Superlative adjective = e.g. fastest, most beautiful, best, smallest, most graceful. Verb = action words e.g. ran, jump, think Verb group= The man was jumping. The dog will be barking tonight. Adverb = tells us more about the verb eg quietly, gracefully etc. The beautiful swan swam gracefully down the river. Compound words= 2 words joined together making a new word e.g. ladybird, butterfly, shoelace etc

Abstract noun = nouns which are not concrete e.g. joy, sadness, grief, happiness, faith etc Pronoun= Replaces a noun e.g. me, I, they, us, she etc.
Antonym= a word with opposite meaning e.g. An antonym of dark is bright. Synonym= a word with similar meaning e.g. A synonym of happy is joyful. Plural = more than one e.g. The plural of fox is foxes! Simile = Comparing 2 things - normally using as and like e.g. as stubborn as a mule, as white as snow! Contraction = Two words made shorter be joining together using an apostrophe for the missing letter e.g. can not=can't Preposition = show relationship between noun and rest of sentence e.g. in, under, beside, on, to, with, over etc. Conjunction= connects words, phrases, sentences e.g. and, for, but, so, however, a e.g. The man went to the shop but he didn't buy anything. Although the man went to the shop, he didn't buy anything.
